Based in El Cajon, California, Dr. Austin Kooba has more than two decades of experience as a medical leader, focusing on obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Austin Kooba spent 12 years as an education lead in the OB/GYN department at the Permanente Medical Group in Santa Rosa, leading several of the organization’s subcommittees and specialty groups.
Dr. Kooba also has extensive teaching experience. He served as part of the founding faculty at Touro University Medical School between 2010 and 2017 and as an associate clinical professor with the University of California, San Francisco, from 2000 to 2014. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a consultant for organizations, including the Napa Valley Food Bank, Catholic Charities, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
An American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology member, Dr. Kooba, studied medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. After graduating with his medical degree, he completed obstetrics and gynecology internship and residency programs at the Medical University of South Carolina. While a resident, he received the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ John R. McCain Award for his study and research efforts. He has earned numerous teaching and education awards during his career.
